Gig Mode

Your fullscreen teleprompter for live performances. Lyrics, chords, metronome, and auto-scroll — all in one view.

What is Gig Mode?

Gig Mode is the fullscreen performance view for your setlist. It turns your setlist into a teleprompter — with lyrics, chords, and everything you need on stage. Navigate between songs with swipe or buttons without ever leaving the view.

Designed for stage use: large text, dark and light themes, an auto-hiding toolbar, and a layout that works on a tablet stand just as well as a laptop on the floor.

Fullscreen Teleprompter

Lyrics and chords in fullscreen — optimized for tablets and laptops on stage.

Auto-Scroll

Automatic scrolling with adjustable speed — configurable per song individually.

Metronome

Visual metronome with beat dots or border pulse — follows the BPM of the current song.

Fully Customizable

Font size, theme, chord display, scroll speed — all controllable from the settings panel.

Launching Gig Mode

  1. 1

    Open a setlist

Go to one of your saved setlists (in your account or on a band page).
  2. 2

    Hit the play button

Click the play button or the "Gig Mode" button in the setlist view.
  3. 3

    Start performing

Gig Mode opens fullscreen with the first song. Navigate between songs using swipe, buttons, or keyboard shortcuts.

Lyrics & Chords

Gig Mode renders lyrics in full ChordPro format. Chords are displayed directly above the corresponding lyrics — just like a traditional chord sheet.

ChordPro Rendering

Songs with ChordPro lyrics are fully rendered: chords above the text, section labels (Verse, Chorus, Bridge, etc.) as visual separators. The rendering is identical to the Performance Editor — what you see there is what you see in Gig Mode.

Toggle Chords

Not every musician needs chords. In the settings you can hide chords completely — showing only the plain lyrics. Ideal for vocalists who just need the text.

Chord Size

The chord display size is adjustable in three levels: S (small), M (medium), and L (large). Pick the size that is readable from your distance to the screen.

Transpose

Chords are transposed live based on the song's transpose setting. If you've transposed a song by +2 semitones (in the song library or via personal settings), all chords in Gig Mode are adjusted accordingly.

The transpose setting comes either from the song library (shared with everyone) or from your personal song settings (only for you). Personal settings take priority.

Font Size

Font size can be adjusted using the + and - buttons or through the settings panel. Find the right size for your distance to the screen — whether it's a tablet on a mic stand or a laptop on the floor.

Auto-Scroll

Auto-scroll moves the lyrics automatically from top to bottom — keeping your hands free for your instrument. Start and stop scrolling with the play/pause button in the toolbar or via keyboard.

Controls

/ button in the toolbar or Space to toggle. Scrolling stops automatically when the end of the lyrics is reached.

Speed

Scroll speed can be adjusted in the settings panel. The range goes from 0.5x (very slow) to 5.0x (very fast). The default speed is 1.0x.

Per-Song Scroll Speed

In the song library you can set an individual scroll speed for each song. Gig Mode picks up this speed automatically when you navigate to the song. This way a slow ballad scrolls slower than a fast rock song.

Set the scroll speed during rehearsal: play the song, start auto-scroll, and adjust the speed until the text and music are in sync. The speed is saved and ready for the next gig.

Metronome

The built-in metronome gives you a visual beat — no sound by default, so the audience doesn't hear it. It follows the BPM and time signature of the current song.

Two Styles

Choose between two visual styles:

Beat Dots

Dots at the top of the screen. The active beat pulses — e.g. 4 dots in 4/4 time, 3 dots in 3/4 time.

Border Pulse

The screen border flashes on each beat — subtle but clearly visible in your peripheral vision.

Time Signature

The metronome responds to the song's time signature. A song in 3/4 shows 3 dots, a song in 6/8 shows 6 dots. The time signature is pulled from the song's settings.

Count-In

Before the song starts, a 4-beat countdown can be displayed — a visual count-in overlay that fills the entire screen. Perfect for getting all band members to start at the same time.

The metronome is purely visual — it produces no sound by default. You can use it without the audience hearing anything.

Toolbar & Badges

The toolbar at the top of the screen shows key information about the current song and provides quick access to controls and settings.

Toolbar Contents

In the toolbar you see: song title and artist, navigation arrows (previous/next song), song counter (e.g. "3/12"), and info badges for BPM, Key, Capo, and Transpose.

Badges

Badges show the current song's performance settings at a glance: BPM (tempo), Key, Capo position, and Transpose value. A badge with an orange dot means you have set a personal override that differs from the band's default (see Personal Song Settings).

Tap a badge to edit it directly — e.g. quickly change the capo value without opening the full settings panel.

Auto-Hide

The toolbar automatically hides after 3 seconds without interaction — giving you maximum space for lyrics. Tap anywhere on the screen or move the mouse, and the toolbar reappears immediately.

Personal Song Settings

Every musician sees different things: the guitarist needs Capo 3, the keyboard player sees no capo. The bass player transposes down 2 semitones. Personal song settings make this possible — everyone sets their own values without changing the band's shared settings.

Capo & Transpose

Tap the Capo or Transpose badge in the toolbar to open a popover with a stepper. You see the shared band value ("Shared: X") and can set your personal value. A reset button clears your override and restores the band default.

Orange Dot Indicator

Badges with an orange dot indicate that you have set a personal override. This lets you see at a glance where your settings differ from the shared default.

Personal ChordPro

You can set a personal ChordPro version for any song — independent from the band's shared chord sheet. Set your personal version in the Performance Editor ("My Version" tab). Gig Mode will then display your version instead.

Personal settings are saved only for you. Other band members see their own values or the shared default.

Inline Annotations

Inline annotations are personal markers directly on the chord sheet — highlights, sticky notes, and cue points. Only you can see them. Perfect for personal reminders, cues, and notes.

Entering Annotate Mode

Tap the pencil icon () in the toolbar to enter annotate mode. A bottom toolbar appears with three tools.

Highlight

Mark text passages with color — 4 colors are available. Ideal for highlighting important sections: cues, dynamic changes, or lyrics you're still learning.

Note Dots

Place sticky note dots on the chord sheet. Tap a dot to read or edit the note. Use them for short reminders like "play softer" or "fill here".

Cue Points

Place predefined cue point markers for common performance directions. 8 presets are available: Break, Solo, Tacet, Build, Drop, Bridge, Outro, and Freestyle. A cue point is instantly recognizable visually — no need to read text.

All annotations are auto-saved. Undo support is available. Annotations are strictly personal — other band members cannot see them.

Use annotations during rehearsal: highlight sections you need to practice, set cue points for dynamic changes, and write notes for details you'd otherwise forget.

Settings Panel

The gear icon () in the toolbar opens the settings panel as a side panel. Here you control all visual and functional aspects of Gig Mode.

Available Settings

Settings Are Saved

All settings are saved in the browser and persist between sessions. You don't need to reconfigure them every time — open Gig Mode and everything is just like last time.

Browser settings are stored per device. If you open Gig Mode on a different device, you'll need to adjust your settings there once.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Quick access to all functions — especially useful when you have a laptop or external keyboard on stage.

All keyboard shortcuts work even when the toolbar is hidden. You don't need to bring it back first.

Offline Mode

Gig Mode works offline after the first load — all data is cached locally. Perfect for stages without reliable Wi-Fi.

How It Works

When you first open a setlist in Gig Mode, all song data is automatically cached in IndexedDB. From then on, everything works offline: lyrics, chords, navigation, auto-scroll, and metronome.

Offline Banner

When the connection drops, a small banner with a icon appears. Gig Mode continues running normally — you only notice the banner. When the connection is restored, data syncs automatically.

For offline mode to work, the setlist must have been opened at least once in Gig Mode with an active internet connection. Open your setlist briefly while on Wi-Fi before the gig.

Band Leader Mode

For band setlists: one person leads, others follow in realtime. Ideal when the bandleader changes the order spontaneously and everyone needs to be on the same song.

How It Works

  1. 1

Open Gig Mode from a band setlist

Open Gig Mode from a shared band setlist.
  2. 2

    Click "Lead this gig"

A button lets you take the leader role. Your song changes are broadcast to all followers in realtime.
  3. 3

    Band follows automatically

All other band members who have Gig Mode open will automatically see the same song as you.

Independent Browsing

Followers can still browse through songs independently — e.g. to quickly check something in a later song. A "Return to leader" button brings them back to the leader's current song instantly.

Take-Over

The leader role can be taken over — e.g. when the guitarist leads the next rehearsal instead of the singer. Only one person can be leader at a time.

Band Leader Mode uses realtime synchronization. All band members need an active internet connection to receive the leader's song changes.
